This is a very time-sensitive post, but I'm back to work today after the Holday and I swear today feels like Monday.
Our hours are 10:30A to 4:30P on Monday, so I was waiting to open the office until 10:30 - not realizing that today is, in fact, a Tuesday.
Does it feel Monday'ish to anybody else?
How did you find out the secret behind Santa Claus?

I'm not sure. I can't remember. I only remember one or two Christmas's when I actually did believe - and even those are only snapshot memories - and then there's this big blank spot, and then there's now. I'm not sure what path I took to get from there to here, only that here is where I am now. I'm making the most of it.
So, here it is... 9AM, the day before the day before Christmas. I've got all the windows open except those in the bedroom - Kelly's still asleep. People, it's sixty-three degrees out. At 9AM. We're going to hit 68 today. On the day before the day before Christmas.
Wow.
Christmas Eve should hit 63 as a high.
Weather aside, I've already done a load of dishes - we have to do them in loads, because we run out of hot water pretty easily. Have you ever washed real dishes in a bar sink? It's not the easiest thing in the world! Suffice to say, I got through about 1/2 of the dishes, so I'm pretty pleased with that.
Now to give my back a rest, I'm going to play some EQ2. Whee!
Looks like I should probably replace that tire too... The rest of it does not interfere with the operation of the vehicle, so I see no need for immediate repair. I'll wear it proudly as a war wound.
Well all...
It's official. I really hate deer. Deer suck.
Why, you might ask?
Well, I'm on my way home after the big Hugh Swaso Birthday Bash (aka Barbarella show) at like 1:30A. I get almost all the way home, and in the last damned MILE, I *HIT* *A* *DEER*.
Bastard.
Deer, if you're still alive, YOU SUCK. Thanks for tearing up my jeep, you bastard!
I hate deer.
Well, the work day is done, I'm waiting for my bus, and although I *just* missed the bus, I just learned I can get wireless out here. So here I am, kickin' it, waiting for my bus, outside, on the internet. It's a good time to be alive, I suppose.
So, I'm walking a fine line between fun and addiction when it comes to EverQuest II. I feel I'm under control for the time being, although barely. Tonight, for example, I only played an hour before logging out. So I do still feel like it's under control. But there's no doubt I've been playing a LOT more lately, and with the new expansion coming out later this month, I see that amount of time spent in-game increasing.
I do it partly for fun and partly to escape. Work is very stressful to me right now, so the world of EverQuest is a great diversion for me. The sad fact of the matter, however, is that the time spent in the EQ world is time that could very well be spent studying, or doing household tasks, or hell, just balancing my damned checkbook.
So, a little in control, a little out of control.
What's on my agenda for the next month or so? Paying back my sister for a debt incurred in July (!), paying for a new clutch for the Jeep, getting Pepper groomed, and picking up a flickr pro account. I did buy a set of moo minicards today, and can't wait for those to come in - I'm planning on including a minicard with each of the family reunion cd's I send out.
Which brings me to family reunion CD's - over the next two weeks (the anticipated timeframe of the arrival of the moo minicards), I will take orders and burn them. Once all are done, I'll mail the CD in a jewel case with a moo minicard to each intended recipient. Whee! Only took me five months!
Friday night I had quite a music-filled night. The first stop was Local 506 to check out The Showteens - a band that one of Kelly's coworkers plays in. They were really good - Kelly and I both had a great time.
Then it was off to Jack Sprat Cafe to check out Invasion and Barbarella. Invasion was really good because I have a thing for guitars, and Barbarella... well, all I can say about them is WOW. If you live in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area and you haven't seen them yet, your chance is coming up - November 28th they're going to be playing at The Cave. I urge you to check them out - Hugh Swaso's voice is incredible, and he has guitar chops to match. Cameron and Noah both provide a rock-solid bottom end. It's sweetness.
This weekend has been mostly lazy. On Saturday, I played a bit of EQ2, went shopping, and helped make sure my brother-in-law who was in our crawlspace was safe. (It's a long story, but no, he doesn't live there.)
Today, I went to church, half-made some really crappy mac 'n cheese, ate junk food and watched Most Haunted Live. (Well, 66% of the first day's episode, that is.)
Now I'll play more EQ2 before bedtime.
It's really throwing me for a loop that it's getting so dark so early. I guess I haven't bothered to get into the swing of the new time yet. That shouldn't surprise me as it's only been the new time since 2AM this morning, but still. Yay for daylight savings time I suppose. I hate the short days that Winter brings, it always seems to make me a bit more depressed.
I have a lot to look forward to this year, though. This week I'll be going back onto my SparkPeople plan, and I'm going to give it a sincere go. I'm also going to start some type of exercise, even if it's only cardio 3x/week. I need something to keep me going through these Winter months!
We've learned that within a year we'll need to move, as well. I'm happy about that, though, as I really feel a need for Kelly and I to have true privacy for a while. We're pretty much left alone as it is now, but we still share some of the common areas of the house, in particular the laundry room. But that's another story for another day, perhaps.
We did look at The Verge apartments this weekend, and while their website claims "as low as" $505 per month, that's apparently $505 per month per bedroom in a 3-bedroom apartment, or $1515/month for the apartment. YIKES. Their lowest rent is like $955 for a 1-bedroom apartment, and that's about two hundred more than we -could- pay and about four hundred more than we'd -like- to pay. Gotta get to a place where we can save money!
So anyhow, off to EQ2 land.
